Dear Friends:
In November 2023 I’ll be participating in the SMART ride for the first time, which also happens to be the event’s 20th anniversary. Myself and hundreds of others will be cycling 165 miles over two days from MIami to Key West to raise funds to support HIV/AIDS charitable organisations in South Florida. 100% of all donations go directly to these groups.
There has been great progress in medication and support services in recent times, but after more than forty years, there is still work to be done, especially through education/prevention. I was shocked to discover that the highest infection rates in Florida are now in the 13-23 age group - this is something that together we can help to fix.
The organisations that benefit from donations not only promote awareness, but also build affordable housing for low income and seniors and generally strive to make sure people living with this disease stay healthy, no matter what their background. While I’m primarily riding to raise funds, it’s also a way for me personally to remember and salute friends I’ve lost over the years. I hope you will consider making a donation.
