Hi and thank YOU for visiting my page!
My name is Gaby and I will be riding in The SMART Ride (Southern Most
AIDS/HIV Ride) where 100% of every dollar I raise will be shared with
AIDS Service Organizations around Florida. For the past 5 years I've
been cheering on riders as they crossed the finish
line at Key West High, and have been INSPIRED to join.
This cause is
something I was born into: My mom has worked in every field of HIV/AIDS
since the late 80s. Her friends from Health Crisis Network have known me
my entire life (even when walking in my first AIDS
Walk as a toddler!). I'm riding for them and all the people that are
STILL fighting the fight against HIV/AIDS... until there is a cure.
On Friday November 17th, and Saturday November 18th I will join the 20th
Anniversary ride with hundreds of other individuals who will ride their
bicycles or crew from Miami to Key West 165-miles. This journey will be
one filled with hope, with memories, with
pride, and with the dream of a future free of HIV.
I have set an ambitious goal to help raise $2 Million this year, I
personally set a goal for $2000. The mainstream attention to the fight
against HIV/AIDS has dropped even though those being infected at the
highest rate are ages 13-23. Education, prevention,
and care can make this disease a memory instead of a present-day
reality. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to hang up my bicycle
and know that the world is free of HIV and AIDS.
