Brendan Hooley - non-rider # 375
The SMART Ride turns 20 this year and spending my birthday with this dedicated gang of cyclists is about the best way I can think of to celebrate another trip around the sun. So on Friday November 17th, and Saturday November 18th I will join their anniversary ride with hundreds of other individuals who will ride their bicycles or crew from Miami to Key West 165-miles. Our journey will be one filled with hope, with memories, with pride, and with the dream of a future free of AIDS.
I have set an ambitious goal to help raise $2 Million this year, I personally want to do more than the required $1250 because I believe what we do makes a difference. Did you know that those being infected at the highest rate are ages 13-23, not a typo! Education, prevention, and care can make this disease a memory instead of a present-day reality. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to hang up my bicycle and know that the world is free of HIV and AIDS.
I hope you will consider joining me on this journey and make a generous donation.
Margaret Mead once said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world, indeed; it is the only thing that ever has." You are part of the change, thank you.
