Welcome to my charitable passion. With your help, I have been the top individual fundraiser the last six years and have surpassed $299,000 in lifetime individual fundraising. This year represents my ninth year as a rider and sixth year serving as the Captain of the Key West Mile Marker Cycling Team.
Our Key West Team has raised over $1,000,000 for the Cause the past six years. The SMART Ride is unique in that every single Rider dollar raised goes directly to benefitting charitable agencies. The SMART Ride has
generated over 14.9 million dollars to benefit Southern Florida ASO’s and promotes a message that raises AIDS/HIV awareness and education. Incredibly, Southern Florida remains America's hotbed of new HIV infections for youths age 13-24. After 40 plus years of HIV/AIDS, I find this both heartbreaking and unacceptable.
Key West has received over $2.3 million of fundraising from The SMART Ride and has utilized the support of the Ride to construct 47 housing units for low income and senior individuals providing a much-needed affordable housing solution. A classis illustration of the quote, "Hands build houses but only hearts can build homes".
I am beyond proud of my local benefitting agency, AH Monroe County, for finding housing solutions for all while continuing to focus on a message of HIV education and prevention.
